In response to a terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian Army launched 'Operation Sindoor', obliterating nine terrorist hideouts in Pakistan. Post-operation, the government called an all-party meeting where leaders from all parties praised the airstrike and expressed solidarity with the government's decisions and military actions. During this meeting, Mallikarjun Kharge, the National President of the main opposition party Congress and Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha, highlighted the absence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Kharge also emphasized, "Keep up the good work; we are with you." He mentioned Pakistan's claim of downing a Rafale, but notably, no one demanded a government response. After the meeting, the Congress President remarked that what had been shared was heard. "We have supported the government," he said, stressing support for the government during this critical time. PM Modi, it seems, feels he stands above Parliament, but we will discuss when the time is right; right now, criticism isn't on our agenda.

Mallikarjun Kharge also stated their commitment to staying with the government in the national interest. In the Lok Sabha, Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi echoed, "We stand united since the beginning." He expressed some concerns but stressed that unity is vital now. Post meeting, he reiterated the support given to the government, noting leaders of all parties were granted 4 to 5 minutes to speak. Alongside Congress, the Samajwadi Party also pointed out the Prime Minister's absence.
