In a monumental success for law enforcement in Odisha's Malkangiri district, 22 Naxals, including a top leader, laid down their arms. They surrendered with an arsenal that included weapons, tiffin bombs, explosives, and a large amount of ammunition.
According to police officials, the surrendering Naxals handed over a total of 9 rifles, 14 tiffin bombs, substantial ammunition, explosives, and other Naxal paraphernalia during a press conference held at the Malkangiri district police office.

Odisha Police DG YB Khurania stated that the Naxal organization is now severely weakened and rapidly disintegrating. He urged remaining Naxal cadres to abandon violence, surrender, and take advantage of the government's rehabilitation policy.

Bounties Exceeding 22.5 Million Rupees Declared
Police officials revealed that a combined bounty of over 22.5 million rupees was declared for these 22 Naxals. They will now be provided opportunities for rehabilitation, financial assistance, and reintegration into the mainstream under the state government's policy.
Naxals Linked to Dandakaranya and AOB Zones
Of the surrendered, 2 Naxals were affiliated with the Andhra-Odisha Border (AOB) Zonal Committee, while 20 were part of the Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee. Infamous Naxal leader DCM Linga, accused of several major Naxal attacks, was among them.

According to the police, these surrendering Naxals were involved in numerous high-profile attacks in the district and surrounding areas. Their capture delivered a significant blow to the Naxal network. Present during the surrender were senior officials like BSF DIG Vijay Sinha, DIG KV Singh, SIW DIG Sanjeev Panda, and DIG of Anti-Naxal Operations Akhileshwar Singh, along with Collector Somesh Upadhyay and SP Vinod Patil H.
