In Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, a tragedy unfolded in the region of Katghar in Baldevpuri. On Sunday night, Bajrang Dal leader and high school student Shobhit Thakur, also known as Bhura, was shot dead. The horrifying act caused widespread tension throughout the area. According to police reports, the deceased, Shobhit Thakur, was the son of Ghanshyam Thakur residing in Suraj Nagar and was a 10th-grade student at Shyamo Devi Inter College. He held the responsibility of Bajrang Dal's section coordinator.
Murder Linked to Instagram Dispute
Approximately four months earlier, a conflict arose over a comment made on Instagram about a girl, involving fellow local youth Avinash. Although initially resolved by the neighborhood residents, Avinash harbored a grudge. Police allege that this dispute led to Shobhit being targeted in a planned attack.
On the fateful Sunday night, Shobhit was conversing with acquaintances when suspects Akku, Jatin, and Rohit suddenly shot him. Shobhit succumbed to his injuries immediately, and the perpetrators fled the scene.
Claims from Family and Organization
Shobhit's cousin, Prince, claims that suspects Akku, Jatin, and Rohit conspired to commit the murder. He noted that there had been previous tensions between Shobhit and Akku's friend Avinash. Upon learning of the murder, hundreds of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal workers assembled at the Katghar police station, chanting Hanuman Chalisa and demanding swift arrests of the culprits.
Altercation Between Police and Activists
Tensions escalated as a heated exchange erupted between police officers and Bajrang Dal activists, creating a charged atmosphere. However, the situation was eventually de-escalated. SP City Kumar Ranvijay Singh confirmed that the murder stemmed from an old animosity, executed in a calculated manner. To apprehend the suspects, five police teams have been deployed.
