The mineral mafia in Madhya Pradesh is becoming increasingly audacious. Upon receiving complaints about illegal mineral transportation, the Tehsildar and the mineral department’s team tried to seize dumpers, when suddenly, a mining businessman arrived with his henchmen and threatened the officials with running them over using a dumper. The video of this unconstrained mafia is rapidly spreading on social media.
This incident is reported to have occurred near the Jabalpur-Nagpur toll gate in the Bargi police station area of Jabalpur. Here, mineral businessman Rohit Jain and his associates not only obstructed official work but also threatened the Tehsildar and mineral team with fatal harm by a Hyva. Following the video’s release, the police filed an FIR against the businessman and his accomplices.
In fact, Tehsildar Ravindra Patel and mineral inspector Vivekanand Yadav, with their team, were investigating illegal transportation of Muram-soil near Manegaon. During the operation, the Tehsildar stopped three dumpers and demanded royalty documents from them. The dumper drivers called their owner and mining businessman Rohit Jain to the scene.
Subsequently, a heated argument ensued between Rohit Jain and the Tehsildar, with the latter repeatedly asking for valid documents, which Rohit Jain outright refused to provide.
In the heat of the moment, Rohit Jain lost his temper, instructing his driver,
“Move the dumper forward, whatever happens will happen...” and further said, “Even if a few get crushed, it doesn’t matter, we will handle everything...”
Tehsildar Ravindra Patel stated that under the collector's instructions, strict actions against illegal mining, storage, and transportation are being enforced within the district. Consequently, on January 9, a sudden inspection was conducted in Manegaon village, where overloading of M-Sand and Gritti was discovered. During the operation, three dumpers were seized and taken to Bargi police station, when Rohit Jain arrived with his associates and attempted to halt the seized vehicles.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Bargi police immediately reached the spot and seized all three dumpers. Based on the Tehsildar’s complaint, the police have registered a case against Rohit Jain and arrested him.
It is noteworthy that Rohit Jain operates a mining and supply business of Muram-soil in the Maneri region, dealing with several major and minor contractors of the city. Investigations also revealed that the dumpers were transporting minerals in excess of their capacity. Currently, Rohit Jain has been arrested and is being interrogated regarding this matter.
The administration asserts that actions against illegal mining and overloaded transport will continue, and stringent measures will be taken against those who threaten government officials or take the law into their own hands. Meanwhile, based on the viral video, the police are thoroughly investigating every aspect of the case.
