In the national capital Delhi, CBI is questioning actor-turned-politician Thalapathy Vijay over last year’s Karur stampede case. On September 27, 2025, Vijay’s party Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) organized a rally in Tamil Nadu's Karur district. During Vijay's speech, a stampede occurred, resulting in the tragic loss of 41 lives. Vijay has now appeared before the CBI regarding this incident.
The CBI is set to question Vijay over the alleged negligence in the rally's organization and management. The core of the agency’s probe is to assess how many pre-rally meetings were conducted with party leaders and the significant decisions made therein. It aims to determine which stipulated procedures were adhered to during the event, and where lapses occurred.
The CBI is also investigating why the arrangements for crowd management agreed upon between the police and the party were not adequately followed. These images were captured Monday morning as Thalapathy Vijay arrived at the CBI office.
Additionally, the agency seeks to find out why adequate provisions for water, security, and emergency management were not made for such a large gathering. The CBI has summoned documents related to the rally's expenses, infrastructure, transport, volunteers, and security to conduct a fact-based investigation.
