After Congress leader Rahul Gandhi questioned the current political stance of the Bahujan Samaj Party, Mayawati retorted forcefully. The BSP leader accused the Congress of 'double standards and casteist mentality'. In a sequence of posts on her X handle, she stated, 'In states where Congress is strong or holds power, there is animosity and a casteist attitude towards BSP and its followers. But in states like Uttar Pradesh, where Congress is weak, their talk of alliance with BSP is a mere facade, showcasing their double standards.'
Mayawati further commented, 'Whenever BSP has allied with casteist parties like Congress in Uttar Pradesh or other states, our base votes have been transferred to them. However, those parties have consistently failed to reciprocate by transferring their base votes to BSP. As a result, the BSP finds itself at a disadvantage. Moreover, the tactics, character, and outlook of parties like Congress and BJP have always opposed Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar's ideology, BSP leadership, their Dalit-Bahujan followers, and reservations. This situation is a significant setback to achieving an egalitarian and welfare-oriented national constitution, which is concerning.'

This post by Mayawati came after Rahul Gandhi's comment in Rae Bareli. At a hostel meeting with Dalit students in Rae Bareli, Gandhi shared, 'I desired that Behenji join us in the fight against BJP, but she refrained for some reason. It was quite disheartening. If all three parties (SP, BSP, and Congress) had united, BJP could never have succeeded.'
