Mamata Government Meets Doctors' Demands: Hospital Principal and Superintendent Removed

The Mamata Government of West Bengal has accepted the demands of protesting doctors at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata. The government has removed the current principal, Dr. Surhita Pal. Along with this, the government has also removed the current superintendent and the head of the Chest Department of the hospital. It is to be noted that the Bengal Government has entrusted Manas Bandyopadhyay with the responsibility of being the new principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Previously, he was serving as the principal at Barasat Medical College and Hospital.

Transfer Order of Dr. Sandeep Ghosh Cancelled

Additionally, the Mamata Government has met another demand of the protesting doctors. The transfer order of the controversial former principal of RG Kar Medical College, Dr. Sandeep Ghosh, to the Kolkata National Medical College and Hospital has been cancelled. Sandeep Ghosh had resigned under pressure from the protestors.

CBI Summons Sandeep Ghosh for Six Days of Questioning

However, two days after the incident, when questions arose regarding the former principal of the medical college, Sandeep Ghosh, he said that his reputation was being tarnished. He stated, "This girl is like my daughter. As a parent, I am resigning; I tried to save her." Due to the fear of defamation and declaring the victim like his daughter, Sandeep Ghosh was interrogated by the CBI for six consecutive days.

Bengal Governor Meets Victim's Family

Furthermore, West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose visited the family of the victim of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital at their home. The governor, who returned from Cuttack, went straight to the victim's house from the airport. During this time, the governor told reporters that he had listened to both parents. "I will write a letter to the Chief Minister in a sealed envelope," he said. The governor mentioned that the parents had shared some matters that are confidential for now.

According to sources close to the governor, CV Ananda Bose became emotional upon seeing the pain of the parents caused by the death of their daughter. Additionally, he spoke twice on the phone with the victim's parents on Tuesday, assuring them of justice. Health services in state-run hospitals in West Bengal were disrupted on Wednesday as junior doctors continued their strike for the 13th consecutive day.
