The holy city of Prayagraj is witnessing an overwhelming influx of devotees for the Mahakumbh, resulting in massive traffic jams on the city roads. On the Kanpur highway, particularly, cars are lined up for miles on both sides. Parking areas are completely filled, making it challenging for people to find and park their vehicles.

The millions of devotees attending Mahakumbh are struggling with heavy traffic. Authorities have tried to limit vehicles to parking lots only to manage the congestion, but these lots are now completely full. Many attendees have left their cars parked, planning to return when the crowd has lessened. Meanwhile, the heavy influx of pilgrims and parked cars have disrupted traffic in several areas.

'Aaj Tak' team visited the parking area at Nehru Park on the Kanpur-Prayagraj highway, where thousands of cars were parked. Many devotees were seen searching for their vehicles, choosing to walk or take e-rickshaws and shuttle buses to the Mahakumbh site to avoid the jam. The crowd is so massive that devotees are seen jumping over barricades or taking alternate routes to reach the bathing site at Sangam for a holy dip.

Authorities Strive to Manage Traffic

The administration has implemented several measures to keep traffic flowing smoothly, but the sheer number of people has overwhelmed these efforts. Devotees are urged to use designated routes and adhere to instructions to ensure the Mahakumbh event remains divine and grand without inconveniences.
