In swift response, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached out twice in an hour to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Prime Minister Modi immediately sought updates on the ground conditions from Chief Minister Adityanath and directed prompt aid. He is continuously monitoring the situation.
Soon after, Home Minister Amit Shah also contacted CM Yogi to assess the situation, offering full support from the central government. BJP President JP Nadda assured CM Yogi of the Central Government's full backing for health services. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath informed Nadda that the situation was under control.
Meanwhile, the Akharas’ sacred dip has been rescheduled for Basant Panchami. The Melā administration had earlier appealed to Akhara Parishad President Ravindrapuri to pause the ritual temporarily, leading to its cancellation.
How Did the Incident Occur?
The unfortunate event occurred at 2 AM, triggered by the collapse of a barrier at the Sangam Nose, which caused panic and chaos. Injured individuals are receiving treatment at the central hospital in Sector 2 of the fair area. Several bodies have been transported to the mortuary at Prayagraj Medical College.
