The month of September has just begun today and early morning on September 1, 2024, there’s a jolt with the LPG gas cylinder price hike. Following the August price increase, oil marketing companies have once again raised the prices of LPG cylinders in September. However, this time, changes are only in the prices of the 19-kilogram commercial LPG gas cylinder, while the prices for the 14-kilogram domestic gas cylinder remain unchanged. Starting the first day of the month, the commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi has become 39 rupees more expensive.
Price Increase from Delhi to Mumbai
According to the IOCL website, the new prices for commercial gas cylinders from Delhi to Mumbai were implemented on September 1, 2024, at 6 AM. Following the latest change, the price of a 19kg LPG cylinder in Delhi has increased from 1652.50 rupees to 1691.50 rupees, a rise of 39 rupees per cylinder. In Kolkata, the price of a commercial gas cylinder has increased from 1764.50 rupees to 1802.50 rupees, making it 38 rupees more expensive.
In other major cities, the price of the 19kg cylinder in Mumbai has risen from 1605 rupees in August to 1644 rupees from September 1st, reflecting a continuous increase for the second month. In Chennai, the price of the commercial LPG cylinder has risen from 1817 rupees to 1855 rupees starting the first day of the month.
Continuous Price Increase Since July
Before this, the price of the commercial cylinder was increased in August, following a price cut on the first of July 2024 by oil marketing companies. The companies had reduced the prices of the commercial gas cylinder by 30 rupees in Delhi at that time. Since then, this marks the second consecutive month that the price of the blue commercial gas cylinder has increased.
Domestic Cylinder Prices Steady
While the price of the 19kg commercial gas cylinder has been experiencing frequent changes, oil marketing companies have maintained the prices for the domestic gas cylinder steady for some time now. The central government offered significant relief to consumers by reducing the price of the 14kg domestic gas cylinder by up to 100 rupees on Women's Day. Since then, the domestic cylinder prices have remained unchanged at 803 rupees in Delhi, 829 rupees in Kolkata, 802.50 rupees in Mumbai, and 818.50 rupees in Chennai.
