Women's shooter Rubina Francis secured a bronze medal in Women's 10m Air Pistol (SH1) with a score of 211.1 in the final. This brings India's medal tally to five - one gold, one silver, and three bronze medals.

Iran's Sareh Javanmardi secured the gold with 236.8 points, while Turkey's Ayșe Ozgan took home the silver with 231.1 points. Rubina was at the second position at one point but eventually slipped to third. The SH1 category in shooting features participants with arm, lower torso, or leg impairments or disabilities.
Who is Rubina Francis?
Rubina Francis, a para pistol shooter from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, clinched a silver medal in the 10m Air Pistol event at the World Shooting Para Sports World Cup 2023. In 2017, she set a junior world record by winning gold in the Women's 10m Air Pistol team event at the World Shooting Para Sports Championship in Bangkok. She also won a bronze medal in the 2019 World Para Championship in Croatia.
At 25 years old, Rubina has rickets, resulting in 40% disability in her legs. Rickets is a condition that affects bone development in children, causing pain and weakness due to bone deformities. Rubina trains in pistol shooting at the Madhya Pradesh Shooting Academy.
Avani Won a Gold Medal in Shooting
On the second day of the Paralympics, India bagged four medals. Manish Narwal won a silver medal in Men's 10m Air Pistol (SH1). Preeti Pal secured a bronze medal in Women's 100m Race (T35). Meanwhile, Avani Lekhara won gold and Mona Agarwal won bronze in Women's 10m Air Rifle (SH1).
