CBI's Interrogation of Sandeep Ghosh Lasted Over 150 Hours

The CBI has interrogated former RG Kar Medical College and Hospital principal Sandeep Ghosh for over 150 hours. On August 9, he was also questioned in relation to the investigation of a postgraduate trainee doctor's rape and murder case. To uncover the truth, the CBI conducted two polygraph tests on Sandeep. He initially failed to provide satisfactory answers during the first test.

CBI officials searched Ghosh’s home and hospital. An official mentioned that three separate teams were formed to investigate financial irregularities. One team inspected the hospital's morgue for its infrastructure, storage protocols for bodies, and postmortem procedures. A five-member team conversed with doctors and staff, including Dr. Saptarshi Chatterjee.

Another CBI team inspected the crime scene on the third floor of the emergency building where the victim was on duty the night of the incident. They spoke to nurses and staff members. Initial arrests included the main accused Sanjay Roy, now in judicial custody. Sandeep Ghosh's arrest marks the second major arrest in this case.

Dr. Akhtar Ali, former deputy superintendent of RG Kar Medical College, had reported financial irregularities during Ghosh's tenure. Ghosh was allegedly involved in several unethical activities and corruption, including taking bribes from students for passing grades. Dr. Ali had lodged a complaint with the vigilance committee and participated in investigations before being transferred ahead of the final report.
