Police investigations into the rape and murder case of a lady doctor at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata have unveiled significant revelations. Police sources claim that the accused, Sanjay Roy, was addicted to watching porn while drinking alcohol. On the night of the incident, he made several visits inside the hospital. Sensational information has come to light based on interrogation, circumstantial evidence, and CCTV footage.
According to sources, around 11 PM on Friday, the accused Sanjay Roy went behind the hospital to drink alcohol. While drinking, he started watching porn films. There are primarily two ways to enter the Chest Medicine Department of RG Kar Medical College—one is closed, while the back door was open. Around 4 AM, 5 to 6 people were seen entering through the back door. The police questioned all of them.
Tampering with Evidence After Committing the Crime
It was later found that several of these people had relatives admitted to the Chest Medicine Department. However, the accused Sanjay Roy had no valid reason to go there. The investigation revealed that the accused also tried to tamper with the evidence after committing the crime. Police found evidence that the accused tried to wash away bloodstains from the crime scene.
Accused of Perverted Mentality, Addicted to Porn
CCTV footage showed that around 4:45 AM, the accused left the seminar room. He then went to the barracks behind the hospital and slept. The police arrested him from the same barracks. At the time of arrest, he was still heavily intoxicated. Police sources mentioned that the accused has a perverted mentality, as the kind of porn he watched on his mobile was not commonly viewed by others.
Waiting for the Final Post-Mortem Report
Kolkata police are awaiting the final post-mortem report of the lady doctor. An officer said, "We are waiting for the final post-mortem report in this case." The preliminary post-mortem report suggests she was murdered after sexual assault, ruling out the possibility of suicide. The report also indicates signs of brutality towards the victim.

Suspected Rape After Murder
The post-mortem report stated, "Blood was coming out of both her eyes and mouth. There were injuries on her face. Blood was also oozing from her private parts. She had injuries on her abdomen, left leg, neck, right hand, finger, and lips." Another police officer said that circumstantial evidence indicates that the accused first murdered the lady doctor and then raped her.
Lady Doctor Was Sleeping Alone in the Seminar Hall
A police officer stated, "There is evidence that the doctor was sleeping alone in the seminar hall when the accused attacked her. She tried to resist, but the accused strangled her to death. To ensure she was dead, the accused strangled her again. It is highly likely that the rape occurred post-murder."

Blood-Stained Shoes of the Accused Found
The police investigating the case seized the clothes and shoes the accused wore during the crime. When asked if anyone else was involved in the crime, an officer replied, "There is no evidence of this so far. After committing the crime, the accused went back home and washed his clothes. During the search at his residence, the police found his shoes with bloodstains."
Accused Remanded to 14 Days Police Custody
On Friday, the body of the lady doctor was found in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College in North Kolkata. A case was registered against the accused under BNS sections 64 (rape) and 103 (murder). After arresting him, he was presented in a Kolkata court, which remanded him to police custody until August 23. The police are questioning him there.
