Putting an end to the ongoing speculations about a power struggle in Karnataka politics, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar affirmed on Monday, 'There is no power tussle between the Chief Minister and me. No need to worry. The CM, Congress in the state, and I are fully united.' Shivakumar mentioned his plan to soon visit Delhi regarding the Mekedatu drinking water-irrigation project. He has requested appointments with the Union Minister for Water Resources and the Environment Minister.
He stated, 'I will ensure to visit Delhi before the Belagavi Assembly session begins. As soon as I get appointments with relevant central ministers, I will go.' A breakfast meeting with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is scheduled for December 2 at 9:30 AM. The discussions in this meeting will address all issues related to leadership apart from Mekedatu. DK expressed, 'Tomorrow, I will converse with the CM in detail. Everything will be clarified.'
Calling for unity among parliamentarians from all parties for the central approval of the Mekedatu issue, DK Shivakumar aimed criticism at the BJP. He commented, 'BJP MPs should advocate for Karnataka’s benefit concerning the Mekedatu project. Former CM HD Kumaraswamy said that everyone is ready to form a delegation. That's great; we should join hands.'

The Supreme Court recently dismissed Tamil Nadu's plea to halt the Mekedatu project and permitted Karnataka to prepare a new Detailed Project Report (DPR). DK highlighted that the new DPR would soon be ready and sent to the Central Water Commission. Meanwhile, DK Shivakumar has reiterated his demand for an immediate release of a special grant of ₹5,300 crore, under the 15th Finance Commission's recommendation, essential for Bengaluru’s development.
The Congress leadership has already clarified that Siddaramaiah's government will last a full five years with no imminent reshuffle. However, final decisions concerning leadership and cabinet expansion are expected before the Belagavi session. The BJP consistently challenges Karnataka’s Congress government's stability. Nevertheless, DK Shivakumar has conclusively stated that the Congress government remains strong, focusing solely on public issues.
