The moment the deceit came to light, she swiftly wiped the sindoor from her parting. Meanwhile, Lalita Yadav, a social welfare officer, acknowledges the incident and promises an inquiry.

The whole affair unfolded at the Jhansi Polytechnic College ground during a collective wedding ceremony last Tuesday. Dinesh revealed that it was supposed to be Brijbhan's marriage, but when he failed to arrive, some officials suggested Dinesh take Brijbhan's place instead. Dinesh also confessed that he is already married and is, in fact, the bride's brother-in-law.

This entire facade was allegedly orchestrated to embezzle the government's financial aid provided for such marriage ceremonies. Several departmental officers and staff are said to be involved in this scam—a similar case previously emerged from Ballia, leading to official actions against many.

The Bride's Statement

The bride, Khushi, at times calling herself Chhavi, explained that her intended groom couldn't make it due to heavy rain and distance. Therefore, the wedding proceeded with her brother-in-law. Khushi admits it's wrong but cites desperation as her filled-out form and online registrations were complete, and she was already at the mandap.

Meanwhile, Lalita Yadav, the social welfare officer present at the ceremony, denied such a mix-up could occur. However, she assured that if a complaint is filed, an investigation will ensue.
