The announcement for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections has been made. The elections will be held in three phases in Jammu and Kashmir on September 18, 25, and October 1. The results will be declared on October 4. Before the assembly elections in the union territory, Aajtak conducted the 'Mood of the Nation' survey to gauge public opinion. According to the 'Mood of the Nation' survey, 47% of people in Jammu and Kashmir believe unemployment is the biggest issue.

40% Prefer Modi as Prime Minister
Meanwhile, 11% cited development, 17% mentioned inflation, 4% denoted corruption, and 1% each viewed law and order and farming as significant issues. In Jammu and Kashmir, 40% of people prefer Narendra Modi as their first choice for Prime Minister.

On the other hand, 38% of the public's first choice for PM is Rahul Gandhi. It should be noted that Aajtak's MOTN survey was conducted between July 15 and August 10 among 1,36,463 people.

First Assembly Elections After 10 Years
This will be the first Assembly election in Jammu and Kashmir since 2014. In 2014, votes were cast for 87 assembly seats in the state. The People's Democratic Party emerged as the largest party, winning 28 seats, while the BJP secured 25 seats. The National Conference won 15 seats, and the Congress secured 12 seats.

No party could achieve the magic number of 44 seats necessary for a majority. After the election results were announced, the PDP and BJP, who came in first and second respectively, formed a coalition government under the leadership of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.

Congress and National Conference to Contend Together
J&K National Conference President and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Farooq Abdullah, announced on Thursday that his party will form an alliance with the Congress for the upcoming assembly elections. This will be the first assembly election in Jammu and Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370 and its reorganization as a union territory.
