On the sandy terrains of Rajasthan's capital, Jaipur, a tragic accident unfolded on a Friday morning. An LPG tanker collided with a truck on the Jaipur-Ajmer Highway, causing a massive fire that engulfed around 40 vehicles. This devastating incident resulted in the loss of 12 lives and left many injured. Dr. Deepak Maheshwari, Principal of SMS Medical College, reported that a total of 12 people have died, with 5 individuals being brought dead to the SMS hospital and 5 others succumbing during treatment. State Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar stated that the condition of nearly half of the injured is critical. Jaipur Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph explained that the impact of the collision damaged the outlet nozzle of the LPG tanker, leading to a gas leak and subsequent fire. Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph noted that the vehicles positioned behind the tanker were caught in the fire, and oncoming vehicles from the opposite direction also got entangled in the blaze and collided. The rapid spread of the fire due to the gas leak prevented people inside nearby vehicles from escaping. Over 25 ambulances transported the injured to SMS Hospital in Jaipur. The Rajasthan government has announced financial aid of 500,000 INR for the families of the deceased and 100,000 INR for the injured.
