On Thursday, September 26, 2024, Israeli fighter jets conducted an airstrike on Beirut, Lebanon. Al Mayadeen, Hezbollah’s media organization, confirmed the strike. The jets targeted the building where Hezbollah’s drone unit chief, Muhammad Hussein Sarur, was hiding, hitting it with three missiles.

According to Israeli Army Radio, the missiles hit the precise floor where Sarur was located, causing a devastating impact. Sarur was hiding in a building in the Dahieh area, south of Beirut, a known stronghold of the Lebanese terrorist organization. Reports suggest that four other Hezbollah fighters were killed, with several injured.

Drone Attack Unit, Missile Unit, and Coordination with Houthi Rebels

The fighter jets targeted the building with three missiles. Sarur had orchestrated numerous drone attacks over the past years on Israeli territory. He led the drone project and established several drone production sites within residential areas.

Sarur joined Hezbollah in 1980, eventually becoming the commander of the elite Azizan Unit and the head of the Radwan Force’s surface-to-air missile unit. He was also responsible for coordinating with the Houthi rebels in Yemen.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant instructed the army’s chief, Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi, to continue attacking Hezbollah, ensuring they don’t get any opportunities. The aim is to leave Hezbollah in a devastated state. Major General Odeed Basiuk from the Operations Directorate and Major General Shlomi Binder, the Intelligence chief, were also present.

Netanyahu Visits the U.S., Vows Relentless Strikes

On September 26, 2024, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived in New York to attend the United Nations Assembly. Upon landing at the airport, he stated that they were there to present their case to the world, which was essential given the current circumstances. The pain endured by the people could not be forgotten.

Netanyahu reiterated that their policy was clear – they would continue attacking Hezbollah until their objective was achieved. The primary goal is to ensure the safety of people in the northern regions. Hence, there was no room for any errors.
