On Sunday, Israel carried out powerful airstrikes on Yemen's capital, Sana'a, resulting in six fatalities and 86 injuries. Explosions echoed across several residential areas of Sana'a. The Israeli military stated that multiple locations, including power plants and a gas station, were targeted in the strikes, which were in retaliation to Houthi rebel attacks on Israel.

Following the airstrikes, the Israeli military released a statement asserting that these attacks were a response to repeated assaults by Houthi terrorists on Israel and its citizens, including last week's surface-to-surface missile and UAV (drone) attacks against the Israeli populace.

According to the Israeli military, their targets in Sana'a included a military complex, the presidential palace, two power plants, and a fuel station.

'Six Fatalities Reported from the Strike'

A spokesperson from the Houthi health ministry stated that the Israeli attacks resulted in six deaths and injuries to 86 people, who were subsequently taken to a hospital for treatment.

Previously, on Friday, Houthi rebels claimed to have launched a ballistic missile towards Israel, purportedly in support of Palestinians in Gaza.

An Israeli air force officer stated on Sunday that the missile likely contained multiple submunitions designed to explode upon impact. The officer remarked, 'This marks the first instance of such a missile being launched from Yemen.'

Additionally, they have repeatedly launched missiles towards Israel, most of which have been intercepted and destroyed in the air by the Israeli military. In response, Israel has targeted Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen, specifically the strategically important Hodeidah port.

Solidarity with Palestinians to Continue

Abdul Qader al-Murtada, a senior Houthi official, declared on Sunday on X that the Houthis will continue their solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza. He announced, 'Israel must understand that we will not abandon our brothers in Gaza, regardless of the sacrifices required.'

It is noteworthy that since the war commenced in October 2023 between Israel and Palestinian militant group Hamas in Gaza, Iranian-backed Houthi rebels have attacked cargo ships in the Red Sea. They have portrayed these attacks as acts of solidarity with Palestinians.
