On Friday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi labeled the government's foreign policy as 'failed,' launching a sharp attack on Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar. The opposition leader in the Lok Sabha reposted excerpts from an interview Jaishankar gave to a foreign journalist, shared by Congress on their 'X' handle.

He posted on 'X' asking the foreign minister three questions: 'Can JJ (Jaishankar) explain why India is linked with Pakistan? Why has no country supported us in condemning Pakistan? And who asked US President Donald Trump to mediate between India and Pakistan?'

Congress Shares Jaishankar's Video

He claimed that India’s foreign policy has collapsed. Congress shared parts of Jaishankar's interview, questioning, 'Why is he faltering with his words?' During the interview, Jaishankar faced questions on several issues, including Donald Trump's claims of mediation.

In this interview, Jaishankar addressed questions about the Pahalgam attack and India-Pakistan tensions. Gandhi stated India’s foreign policy has crumbled. On Thursday, he had targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of halting military action against Pakistan and sacrificing India's interests under Trump's pressure.

Jaishankar Termed as Jaichand

Congress leaders have begun calling Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar 'Jaichand Jaishankar,' a name borrowed from the historical saga 'Prithviraj Raso,' depicting King Jaichand as a traitor. Congress is demanding Jaishankar's removal.

Congress questioned the government on why Operation Sindoor was halted while the Indian army was dismantling terrorist bases in Pakistan. Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, was a targeted response to the April 22 Pahalgam attacks that killed 26, effectively dismantling terrorist networks. On May 8, 9, and 10, Pakistan attempted attacks on Indian military sites, which India decisively countered.
