An academically ambitious young woman from Punjab, Natasha Narang, is reported missing after heading to Tasmania University in Australia for her PhD. The Tasmania Police discovered Natasha's jacket, handbag, and cell phone along the banks of the Tamar River. In an extensive search effort, the police, along with divers and helicopter support, are scouring the river for Natasha.

Natasha's husband suggests that she might have left due to academic pressures, whereas her family in Punjab suspects foul play by her spouse. The family is pleading for a fair investigation from the governments of India and Australia.

Natasha's husband, Sandeep Narang, resides in Phagwara, Punjab, where the couple was married on December 8, 2009. Post marriage, Natasha was sent abroad to study. According to her father, Sandeep had a history of domestic violence, which continued even after they moved to Australia.

Natasha's sister Tanisha reveals that on October 4, when it was 6 PM in India and 11:30 PM in Australia, she saw Natasha's online status as active but got no response to her messages. Around 10 PM in India, which was 3 AM in Australia, Natasha's profile was still showing online – a highly unusual occurrence according to Tanisha.

In an emotional attempt, Natasha's father sang a song for her, hoping for some response, but to no avail. When confronted over the phone, Sandeep nervously disclosed that Natasha was missing.

Contradicting the allegations, Natasha's in-laws claim that the couple was happy. Sandeep's father, Mohan Narang, stated that they treated Natasha like their own daughter and denied any abuse. After her disappearance, they are preparing to travel to Australia themselves to join the search.
