The second day witnessed a dramatic fall of wickets with 15 tumbling in total. In their first innings, India scored 189, granting them a modest 30-run lead. Winning the toss, South Africa opted to bat first but were bundled out for just 159 runs.
The South African batsmen struggled early in their second innings. Ryan Rickelton was dismissed for 11 by Kuldeep, while the other opener Aiden Markram fell for 4 to Ravindra Jadeja. Jadeja swiftly sent Vian Mulder (11) and Tony de Zorzi (2) back in a single over. Tristan Stubbs, adding just 5 runs, was also bowled by Jadeja. In their first innings, India faced early troubles. Yashasvi Jaiswal was bowled for 12 by Marco Jansen. However, KL Rahul and Washington Sundar stabilized the innings towards the end of the day.
In the early hour of Day 2, Rahul and Sundar put up a decent show. Rahul reached the milestone of 4000 Test runs. Sundar was out for 29 to Simon Harmer. Shubman Gill retired hurt on 4 after experiencing neck pain post a boundary.
KL Rahul became the third wicket, being out for 39 to spinner Keshav Maharaj. Rishabh Pant, showing some aggressive batting, contributed 27 before falling to Corbin Bosch.
