The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the schedule for Afghanistan's tour of India on Monday (March 2). The Afghanistan team will play one Test and three ODIs against the hosts.
The sole Test match will commence on June 6, hosted by New Chandigarh (Mullanpur). Subsequently, the three ODI clashes are set for June 14, 17, and 20, in Dharamshala, Lucknow, and Chennai, respectively. Notably, this tour excludes any T20 Internationals, as it's scheduled closely after the World Cup.
With the 2027 ODI World Cup in sight, these matches offer a prime opportunity for the Indian team to experiment and find balance. Team management aims to finalize the batting order, all-rounder options, and bowling combinations. There's a strong likelihood seasoned batsmen Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will play in this series. ROKO aims to maintain momentum and fitness before the 2027 World Cup.
