The relentless rain pouring down on Himachal Pradesh's Mandi district over the last 30 hours harks back to the disastrous events of 2023. Since last night, the continuous rainfall has triggered cloudbursts, flash floods, and landslides, utterly disrupting daily life across the district's various subdivisions.
Four Dead, Sixteen Missing So Far
Tragically, these events have claimed four lives, while 16 individuals remain missing. District administration, NDRF, and SDRF teams have successfully rescued 170 people, and efforts to locate those missing are ongoing. DC Mandi, Apoorv Devgan, is personally surveying the situation to assess the extent of devastation.
Karsog Suffers the Most Damage, One Dead, Four Missing
ADC Mandi, Gursimar Singh, reports that Karsog has suffered the most from the cloudburst. One person has died here, with four still missing. Rescue operations in Karsog have successfully moved 19 individuals to safety.
Devastation in Thunag, Saraj Subdivision
The Thunag area in the Saraj subdivision has also been severely affected by torrential rains. Landslides here have damaged several roads and homes, and reports have emerged of animals perishing. The communication network in this area has been disrupted.
Flash Floods in Gohar, Two Dead
In Gohar sub-division's Syanj region, flash floods swept away nine individuals, with two confirmed fatalities. Rescue teams have managed to save four people from Bara and Basa villages amid the calamity.

Jongindernagar too has witnessed the loss of one life. The Dharampur area has not been spared, with reports of landslides causing destruction. Seven houses and multiple animal shelters have been damaged following a flash flood-induced landslide. The administration successfully evacuated around 50 individuals to safety from this region.
NDRF and SDRF Teams Actively Engaged in Relief Operations
NDRF teams in Karsog and both SDRF and NDRF teams in Gohar are intensely engaged in relief and rescue operations. In the Thunag area of Saraj, the SDRF team remains deployed and is tirelessly working on relief and rescue missions.
