On June 15, at a petrol pump in Bilgram, Hardoi, Ehsaan Khan stopped his car, accompanied by his daughter Ariba and wife, to refill CNG. An argument erupted with the attendant, Rajnish Kumar, who had asked them to step out of the car for safety reasons. As tensions escalated, Ariba retrieved a pistol from their vehicle and pointed it at Rajnish.

Police arrived upon notification, registering a case against Ariba and Ehsaan, and confiscated the weapon. Two days later, both Ariba and her father gave statements claiming that the attendant behaved inappropriately and was allegedly intoxicated. While they acknowledged that drawing the pistol was illegal, they said it was in response to improper conduct despite a woman being present.
