A groundbreaking development unfolds as news surfaces about Samar Muhammad Abu Jumar, wife of the late Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, escaping from Gaza. Fleeing with forged passports, she has taken her children along.
According to reports from Hebrew media, Samar Muhammad is now residing in Turkey, having remarried shortly following Sinwar's death. It's rumored that a senior Hamas official orchestrated her escape from Gaza, part of an ongoing effort by Hamas to evacuate its leaders and their families from the region.
Senior Hamas official Fathi Hamad reportedly facilitated Samar Muhammad's wedding in Turkey. Hamad, rumored to be a smuggler, is said to be actively involved in helping Hamas members and their families exit Gaza using tactics such as forged passports, counterfeit medical records, and leveraging assistance from foreign embassies.
Prior reports indicate Samar left Gaza before Sinwar's demise on October 16, 2024. She crossed into Egypt via the Rafah border and then proceeded to Turkey using her forged passport.
It is noteworthy that Samar Muhammad married Yahya Sinwar in 2011, being 18 years his junior. Together, they had three children.
Yahya Sinwar was a significant figure in Hamas leadership, identified as the mastermind behind the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel. He headed Hamas in Gaza from 2017 and served as the president of Hamas's Political Bureau from August 2024. He was killed in an Israeli airstrike on October 16 last year.
On October 6, 2023, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) released a video showing Yahya Sinwar, Samar Muhammad, and their children fleeing through a tunnel in Khan Yunis. During the escape, Samar Muhammad was notably spotted carrying a luxurious Hermes Birkin handbag.
