Bollywood's beloved actor Govinda is always a topic of conversation whether he is on screen or not. Renowned for his punctuality issues, Govinda's team has taken umbrage over recent remarks by the producer Vashu Bhagnani, but the actor's manager has dismissed these claims as baseless.
Speaking to TOI, manager Shashi Sinha, who was responsible for Govinda's work affairs at the time, stated that there was no such incident. He asserted the irrelevance of bringing up such matters now.
Manager Expresses Objections
Shashi remarked that he cannot recall any such incident. Even if Govinda was occasionally late by 2-3 hours, it was due to health issues or flight delays. Moreover, Vashu Bhagnani himself had acknowledged that Govinda, despite arriving late, would complete his work.
Shashi expressed his surprise at the producer revisiting these matters, stating their deep respect for Vashu Sir and reminiscing about the early days of working with him. Shashi emphasized that after so many years, it is pointless to discuss Govinda's commitment to work – ready to resolve any issues through discussion if necessary.
Govinda Makes Amends
In an interview with Reviewron’s YouTube channel, Vashu Bhagnani reflected on the delays caused by Govinda during 'Hero No. 1' shooting, which led to a halt in the overseas filming for three days. After a consequential call that could have led to the crew returning home, Govinda reached Switzerland by 6 am.
Bhagnani recounted how Govinda quickly made up for lost time, not speaking a word for 10-15 minutes upon his arrival before requesting to shave. In a rush, Govinda managed a shave with a basic razor bought at a petrol station bathroom, gave his first shot for the famous 'No. 1' song by half-past seven, and astonishingly finished 70% of the song in one day. Despite the three-day absence, Govinda's efficiency in completing the majority of the work in a single day was remarkable.
