Following the Ahmedabad plane crash, emergency mock drills are being conducted at airports to prepare both the public and emergency service personnel for swift rescue actions during accidents. Importantly, these drills educate everyone on the dos and don'ts in such scenarios.

As part of this initiative, an emergency mock drill was held at Chennai Airport on Saturday, organized by security forces and the fire brigade. A simulated plane crash scenario was created where participants were educated on safeguarding themselves and assisting those affected.

Simulating Plane Crash Conditions

During the drill, a flaming plane, frantic crowds, and CISF personnel swiftly responding to the crash site to save lives were part of the scenario. Additionally, instructions were provided on how civilians should protect themselves and how emergency workers should assist during such crises.

Involvement of Various Emergency Units

The CISF conducted this crucial emergency exercise near Parangimalai close to the airport. Participants included CISF, fire brigade, police, airport officials, medical teams, intelligence units, NDRF, and other services. A model of a crashed plane was set ablaze as part of the exercise.

Continuing Mock Drills After Ahmedabad Incident

The emergency mock drills, initiated after the unfortunate Ahmedabad incident, aim to assess the readiness of officials and the public in promptly handling similar situations and minimizing loss of life and property.
