The Election Commission of India (ECI), in its recent press meeting, firmly addressed the concerns of false accusations of electoral fraud, reaffirming its neutral stance. Urging voters to exercise their right as enshrined in the constitution, the ECI reminded everyone of the equal standing of all political parties under its purview. Whether ruling or opposition, none are favored above the other.

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar stated that neither the commission nor the voters are intimidated by unfounded allegations. The commission is committed to performing its duties impartially, devoid of political bias, and with full determination. Addressing opposition concerns, the ECI noted that 28,370 voters have lodged their claims and objections, with the period for submission stretching from August 1 to September 1.

The ECI has taken steps to rectify errors, encouraging Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and political party agents to coordinate. President Kumar emphasized that field teams are relentlessly working to maintain the integrity of the voter lists. He accused some political figures of feigning ignorance or deliberately misleading the public on local ballot agent appointments, despite district presidents already naming agents.

ECI's Firm Stand on Dual Voting Allegations

Chief Election Commissioner Kumar clarified that, according to India's constitution, only Indian citizens are eligible to vote in national and state elections. Foreign nationals have no voting rights. If a non-citizen erroneously or deliberately completes an enumeration form, documentation of nationality is required during the 'SIR' process, and corrective action will be taken if necessary.

'Vote Theft Accusations: A Dubious Misleading Attempt'

The ECI underscored its unwavering integrity, backed by Bihar's dedicated voting populace. Dismissing claims of vote theft as malicious deceit, the commission also condemned unauthorized use of voter images, warning against infringement of privacy as per constitutional law.

'Election Commission Stands Firm with Voters'

The statement from the ECI highlighted its unwavering support for all demographics. Male, female, young, old, rich, or poor, the commission stands as a bastion of fairness, operating transparently with over a million personnel, and thousands of agents ensuring secure and legitimate electoral processes.

Recently, some voter images appeared unconsented in media outlets. The ECI objected, questioning if voter, familial, or even minor indiscretions should be exposed publicly. Only those listed can cast votes. In Bihar, the SIR procedure has commenced, certified by signatures at each booth. So far, 28,370 claims and objections have been registered.
