Delhi's Deluge: Traffic Mayhem and Police Advisory

Continuous rainfall resulted in waterlogging and massive traffic jams in Delhi. Commuters faced hours-long delays. Delhi Police issued several advisories to steer clear of affected roads.

Continuous rainfall in the capital city of Delhi resulted in severe waterlogging in several areas on Friday, leading to substantial traffic jams in some regions. According to the Delhi Traffic Police, the traffic on NH-48 from Dhaula Kuan to Mahipalpur was significantly affected due to the waterlogged conditions.

Massive Traffic Jams in Many Areas

News agency reports indicate that the police stated, 'Traffic on both sides of MB Road was affected due to waterlogging near Sainik Farm and Saket Metro Station. Additionally, traffic on the carriageway from Ashram to Badarpur was disrupted near Madanpur Khadar due to waterlogging.'

As per the Public Works Department (PWD), they received 85 complaints related to waterlogging. Waterlogging is still present in Mundka, and efforts to clear it are ongoing. All underpasses and subways are open for traffic. A PWD official mentioned that they received 13 complaints about fallen trees.

Traffic Advisory Issued by Delhi Police

The police have also issued advisories for the public about traffic disruptions due to rain. The advisory highlighted significant traffic jams on Rohtak Road in both directions from Tikri Border to Peeragarhi due to waterlogging in Mundka.

Travelers are advised to avoid Mundka and use alternative routes. Vehicles from Bahadurgarh heading to Peeragarhi are recommended to use the Jharoda-Najafgarh Road or UER-III and then the Najafgarh-Nangloi Road for reaching Peeragarhi.

Multiple Complaints to MCD

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) received 29 complaints regarding waterlogging and 15 complaints about fallen trees following continuous rainfall. Commuters reported heavy traffic near Mahipalpur on Delhi-Gurgaon Road, Behra Enclave, Paschim Vihar, Patel Nagar intersection, from Sangam Vihar to Badarpur, Aurobindo Marg, Najafgarh Firni Road, and MG Road, causing significant travel delays.
