Delhi: Tension Over Sacrificial Rites Escalates to a Violent Assault

A family debate over sacrificial offering to the deity in Delhi's Dwarka region turns disputatious.

In Delhi's Dwarka area, a furious debate erupted within a family regarding who should perform a sacrificial offering to the deity. The disagreement among family members intensified, leading to one member assaulting his mother and younger brother with a knife. The police have arrested the accused, Ravi, and recovered the weapon from him.

A senior police officer informed that the JP Kalan police station received a report from RTR Hospital on Thursday that Abhishek and his mother Nirmala were admitted with severe injuries to their abdomen and faces. Abhishek's sister Pooja told the police that their older brother Ravi had attacked them with a knife.

After a written statement, the police filed an FIR against the accused under IPC section 307 (attempt to murder). The team has also seized the weapon used in the attack.

During the interrogation, it emerged that the core of the dispute was about who should perform the sacrificial offering to the deity. The fight began over this disagreement and quickly escalated into physical violence. The police officer stated that an investigation into the case is underway.
