From 8 a.m., votes are being counted for the Delhi assembly elections. A thrilling contest is underway at the New Delhi seat, as sometimes Arvind Kejriwal leads, and other times he trails. According to trends and Election Commission data, the BJP seems to be getting a majority. It will be exciting to see whether Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party returns to power or if the BJP rules the capital after 27 years. The Congress, which failed to win a single seat in the last two elections, is also holding on to significant hopes from this election.

Voting in the capital occurred on February 5. Enhanced three-tier security arrangements are in place at the 19 counting hubs in the city, with two contingents of paramilitary forces stationed per center. Exit polls had suggested that this time, Delhi is not out of reach for the BJP. A BJP win would indeed mark a historic turn.
