A new name has surfaced in the investigation of the Faridabad terror module and the car explosion near Delhi's Red Fort - Dr. Nisar ul Hassan. This Kashmiri doctor was dismissed from government service in November 2023, charged with 'anti-national activities.' He served as an assistant professor in the Medicine Department of SMHS Hospital in Srinagar and was removed under Section 311(2)(c).

Dr. Nisar hails from the Anchal village in Sopore, once notorious for terrorist activities. He obtained his MBBS from GMC Srinagar and MD from SKIMS, and for a significant time, he was the president of the Doctor's Association of Kashmir (DAK). His career has been rife with controversy - calling for strikes over the 2013 spurious drugs scandal, urging staff not to pay taxes and boycott election duties in 2014, and making statements to 'strengthen institutions of freedom.' These actions led to multiple suspensions.

In 2023, he was dismissed again, with LG Manoj Sinha referring to him as a 'ticking time bomb.'

He is now on the radar of investigative agencies as, in recent years, he was a professor of General Medicine at Haryana's Al-Falah University. Dr. Umar Un-Nabi, said to be the mastermind behind the Red Fort blast, was a junior doctor under him for a year.

Dr. Nisar's wife, Dr. Suraiya, stated that relations between Nisar and Umar were not amicable. Umar frequently disappeared, neglected patients, and didn't attend classes. Eventually, after several warnings, he had to be transferred to another ward.

She also clarified that Nisar is not 'on the run' but is in NIA's protective custody for questioning, along with several other university staff and students.

Agencies are now trying to ascertain if he had any direct or indirect links to this significant 'white-collar JeM module.' The investigation is progressing in this direction.
