His party, Janata Dal (United), maintains a lead on approximately 81 seats. Amidst this, JDU posted on social media about Nitish Kumar becoming Chief Minister but soon deleted the post.

An image of Nitish Kumar was shared on JDU's X handle with the caption, "Unmatched... Nitish Kumar was, is, and will be the Chief Minister of Bihar." Previously, a supporter had placed a poster outside the party headquarters in Patna saying, "The tiger is still alive."
