"Are we to be relegated only to roles like flag bearers and background supporters? As the district and local elections approach, send us candidates even from Durg-Bhilai to campaign for. We will support them as our leaders," expressed former District Panchayat Vice-Chairman and Congress leader Surendra Das Vaishnav.

Ex-Chief Minister and Congress candidate Bhupesh Baghel was present at a block-level Congress workers' conference in Khuteri Village, Rajnandgaon district. It was there that Vaishnav's frustration came to the forefront. He didn't hesitate to voice his grievances directly to Baghel from the stage.

Baghel, who was on the stage, remarked that the Congress is a party where freedom of speech is respected. Everyone is entitled to state their views. The after-effects of the outburst have yet to be seen in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The incident has since gone viral on social media.

Vaishnav, while venting, questioned whether his responsibilities would be limited to minor roles. He appealed for recognition of party workers in the upcoming local body elections. "If my words have offended, feel free to expel me from the party," he challenged, asserting that the party workers had not received due respect and that they longed to meet their leader over the past five years. Vaishnav was bold enough to say, if his words were that troublesome, he should be expelled from the party.
