The second day of India Today Conclave 2024 was thrilling. Orry, a media favorite, graced the event where discussions revolved around party life, nepotism, star kids, and the grand celebrations in Jamnagar. Orry also imparted a significant message about self-love. Let's dive into the insights shared.
Why is Orry famous? How did you gain popularity so quickly?
Orry responded, 'Okay, I could lie to you that I'm famous because of my signature pose or because I work on myself. But the truth is, I am well-known because I am "famous and friend". Not many 'and friends' are famous here. You often hear about 'Janhvi Kapoor and their friend' or 'Sara Ali Khan's friend'. So, I believe I've achieved quite a bit by becoming 'and friend'. I've crafted this title. It's a full-time job, being a professional 'and friend'. When you write news and you're unsure who stands in the background, you pen 'and friend'; that's me. I can't deny that I am known because of famous people. It's one of the major reasons for my fame.'
You're often seen with star kids and share a good bond with them. How did these friendships form? Despite being an outsider, you have similar privileges. What do you think when star kids are labeled as nepo babies?
Orry explained, 'Each one of us has our own narrative regarding friendship and nepotism. If applying to a college your parents attended lands you admission, you're called a legacy child. They're regarded highly in high school and university. These legacy kids get things easily because their parents worked hard to pave the way for them. As an outsider in this industry, some doors that open for me may not for them, and vice versa. But I'd want my children to seize the opportunities I've worked hard for. The efforts I've put forth should benefit my offspring.'
Orry further mentioned, 'Your legacy is not built for the first generation but the second. When you own a law firm and your child gets a job there easily, that's privilege too. The same applies to nepo kids in films. If my connections with producers and directors owe me favors, I'd like to exchange those for chances for my children in the future. Why wouldn't I want convenience for them if I've worked for it? Consider Kartik Aaryan; his children will also be nepo kids. Should his efforts not benefit his children just like Shah Rukh's kids reap his rewards?'
'I'm working on myself,' this phrase has become a mantra for the young folks.
About this, Orry said, 'You have one life, live it fully. If you're not working on yourself, you're not your own favorite person. Being the main character in your life story is crucial. I think many in the young audience resonate with this, perhaps because they weren't living this way before, or they were and simply needed someone to vocalize it.'
What's your take on your privileges? You come from a prominent family and attended school with many celebrity kids.
Orry commented, 'Everyone carries their own silver spoon and limits. The conveniences I have and you may not, the limits I own and you don't, I wear them like a cape on my shoulders. I'm not here to flaunt my privileges to everyone. People don't want to show you the struggles in their lives. Why shouldn't you take advantage of what you were born into? It's a desire that should be celebrated, not criticized. Have an appetite for the opportunities life brings you; greed for your ambitions. Do not let someone who lacks what you possess dictate your pride in your privileges. Move forward.'
Your party content is quite popular. How was your recent time in Jamnagar?
Orry shared, 'Jamnagar was amazing. The details in its design are truly unparalleled in the world. The wedding there was magnificent. I love being part of every party and thriving in that vibe. I literally had no idea I would meet Rihanna the other day. Let me tell you my marketing trick, something I probably shouldn't but it's called the OOO. You could also call it OOI, standing for Objects of Interest, but I prefer Objects Of Orry. One day, I might even open a museum. My outfits always include something that sparks conversation. Knowing Rihanna was going to be there, I thought there should be something in my outfit that would grab her attention. That's why I wore those large earrings, and as expected, she noticed them and went to the extent of wanting to borrow them. While my friends whipped out their phones to capture the moment, Rihanna, after showing interest in my earrings, misplaced them within 7 minutes. She returned to borrow the other one, and that's when I pinned the earring to her top.'
Aiming for a Photo with the Prime Minister
You've taken photos with Rihanna, the entire Ambani family, Ranveer, Deepika, and more. Who's next on your radar? Is it Taylor Swift? Orci responded with 'The Prime Minister.' Yes, Orry now seeks to capture a moment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
What's Orry's Next Move?
Discussing his recent signing with Dharma Cornerstone Agency, Orry admitted, 'I'll be honest, I despise working. Signing with DCA was inevitable, but if you ask me about upcoming projects that require effort, well, I prefer not to work at all. That's the plain truth, and currently, I'm not engaged in any projects.'
In addition to these disclosures, Orry revealed how he keeps himself updated with world news primary through Instagram's discover page, without the assistance of friends or their team.
