The area had witnessed multiple such thefts recently, culminating in an official complaint by a local woman. Surveillance footage scrutinized by the police captured a thief in the act.
Members of this undergarment theft syndicate roamed from urban to rural areas, targeting women's garments. The arrest was made possible through CCTV footage retrieved from the Vijaynagar area, which became key evidence initiating the investigation. The footage, which subsequently went viral, showed a masked man committing the theft. Troubled by these incidents, residents had ceased drying clothes outside their homes.
Thief Specializing in Women's Undergarments Apprehended
In a related incident from Bilgawan village in the Panagar police district, a woman reported being victimized by a persistent thief. This individual not only stole clothes but also vandalized them in a single night.
Following the villagers' plea, police from Panagar apprehended the suspect, recovering stolen garments. The arrested individual, identified as Vijay aka Lalu Thakur, was already known to authorities for theft and assault.
