The atmosphere of the Lok Sabha elections is palpable, with voting in the capital city of Delhi scheduled for the 25th of May. Prior to this, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had an exclusive conversation with India Today. He candidly responded on various issues. Kejriwal stated that despite attempts to break him mentally and emotionally in jail, he remained unbroken and did not lose hope, also alleging denial of insulin and proper medication.

When asked about his incarceration and current bail status, after spending nearly 50 days in jail, CM Kejriwal shared, 'In jail, I merely thought about how to present our case to the public. Now we are reaching out and communicating with the people. It is democracy, and victory will belong to those who can make the people understand.'

Elaborating on his jail experiences, CM said, 'They tried to break me inside the jail. My cell was very different. It was empty. There were two CCTV cameras in my cell observed by 13 officers, and a 24-hour report was sent to the PMO. I was subject to a lot of emotional and mental stress. The cell had space for daily activities, but the camera angles were set away from there.'

Regarding his denied insulin, CM Kejriwal commented, 'I was not given insulin for 15 days, and my sugar levels reached 350. Such high sugar levels can be dangerous for any patient. At the same time, food became a controversial subject. When questioned about allegations of him consuming a lot of mangoes, Kejriwal explained that fruits were allowed, those included just one or two small slices of mango occasionally, questioning the validity of such remarks. He also mentioned an issue that arose when his wife sent aloo-puri (potato curry and puffed bread) as a religious offering during Navratri. He reiterated that he has been taking insulin for 10 years, with 4 injections administered to his stomach daily.'

To remain emotionally strong in jail, Kejriwal read the Gita and the Ramayana. He said that during visits, he was not allowed to meet his wife face-to-face, but only through bars. Meetings with Bhagwant Mann were also not permitted. He shared that there was a TV in the cell, allowing him to stay updated with current events.
