In the heart of India's capital, Delhi, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended a licensing inspector from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) in Shahdara, caught red-handed accepting a bribe of 60,000 rupees. Officials confirmed the arrest of the licensing inspector on Monday.

According to reports from news agencies, the arrested officer has been identified as Devinder Kumar. It is alleged that he demanded this bribe to unseal a shop in the Shahdara region.

CBI officials revealed that a complaint was filed against Devinder Kumar by the victimized shopkeeper. Following this complaint, the CBI conducted a preliminary investigation and laid a trap to catch the accused.

During the investigation, the CBI discovered that Devinder Kumar had requested a bribe of 60,000 rupees to advance the process of de-sealing the shop. According to the plan, when the shop owner handed over the bribe amount, the CBI apprehended Devinder Kumar red-handed.

Post-arrest, the CBI seized the bribe amount from the scene and has commenced a thorough investigation into the case. Authorities are probing whether there are other similar instances involving the accused.

This incident has again raised questions about the rampant corruption within the municipal corporation. Officials have appealed to the public to immediately report such incidents to the CBI or other concerned departments. Meanwhile, the CBI insists that strict action will be taken against the accused.
