The caste survey has commenced in Telangana today. On this issue, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi targeted PM Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in a post on X. He wrote, 'Mr. Modi, the caste survey has started in Telangana from today. The data collected will help in formulating policies for the development of every community in the state. Soon, this will happen in Maharashtra too.'
Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP of avoiding a comprehensive caste census in the country. He declared, 'I want to make it clear to Mr. Modi - you cannot stop the nationwide caste census. We will pass the caste census in this Parliament and break the 50% reservation barrier.'

Previously, on November 6, while addressing the Constitution Respect Conference in Nagpur, Rahul Gandhi advocated for a caste census. He stated, 'This process will take place in the country and will bring to light the injustices faced by Dalits, OBCs, and tribals. The true meaning of a caste census is justice. The Congress Party will dismantle the 50% reservation cap.'
Describing the caste survey in Telangana as historic and revolutionary, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh posted from his X handle, 'The Congress government in Telangana is commencing its caste-based survey today. Over the next few weeks, 80,000 surveyors will cover 1.17 crore homes across 33 districts in the state. This is the first time since 1931 that a government-led caste-based survey is being conducted in Telangana. It is a historic, revolutionary moment.'

Jairam Ramesh added that earlier this week in Hyderabad, Rahul Gandhi stated that this caste survey is a blueprint for a national caste census, which the government of the India Block will implement nationwide if formed. It is part of Congress's vision to eliminate the arbitrary 50% reservation cap for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes set by the Supreme Court. We are committed to the idea of social, political, and economic justice in India.
