Amid speculations surrounding the T20 World Cup 2026, Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Devajit Saikia, has issued a significant statement. He clearly mentioned that BCCI has not been part of any official dialogue on this entire matter.

While speaking to the media, Devajit Saikia said, 'So far, the ongoing discussions between the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the International Cricket Council (ICC) have not included BCCI. We have not received any official information. As soon as we do, we will update you.' Saikia stated that BCCI is not in the communication loop occurring between BCB and ICC.

Notably, during their latest meeting with the ICC, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) once again reiterated their decision not to travel to India for the T20 World Cup 2026.

This tournament is proposed to be held between February 7 and March 8, 2026, in India and Sri Lanka. However, ICC has clearly stated that Bangladesh should reconsider their decision as the schedule is set.

The ICC responded by asserting that the tournament's schedule and itinerary had already been determined, urging BCB to rethink their stance. Despite this, the Bangladesh board remains steadfast, citing the safety and welfare of players, officials, and support staff as its primary priority.

Nonetheless, ICC has asked Bangladesh to reconsider. This entire issue has surfaced amidst strained relations between BCCI and BCB. The situation exacerbated when BCCI decided to terminate the IPL contract of Bangladesh's fast bowler, Mustafizur Rahman.

The focus remains on maintaining solid sports relations, especially concerning collaborative events like the T20 World Cup, ensuring a fair play environment for all participating nations.
