Atishi Resigns as CM

Following the electoral defeat of the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi, Atishi resigned from her chief ministerial position after 142 days. She had assumed the chief minister role in September after Arvind Kejriwal's incarceration, and following the electoral loss, she submitted her resignation to Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena on Sunday.

However, she will continue as acting Chief Minister until the formation of a new government. The significant aspect is that in this election, Atishi is among the few prominent AAP leaders who managed to retain their seats amidst the BJP wave.

Quoted Herself as Interim CM

Atishi became emotional when she was designated as Delhi's Chief Minister. On the evening of September 21, 2024, after taking the oath, she expressed that although she had taken the oath as CM today, it is an emotional moment for all of us that Arvind Kejriwal is not the CM. Throughout her tenure, Atishi portrayed herself as the interim CM. She even kept a chair vacant for Kejriwal at the CM's office while shouldering all responsibilities. Kejriwal had clearly conveyed during election campaigns that he would become the Chief Minister if AAP forms the government in Delhi. Atishi consistently affirmed this, ensuring a clear message to the public.
