A sense of shock pervaded the Lakhiabad Upper Pada area of the Kulti Assembly constituency in Asansol on Tuesday morning, following the mysterious death of lottery winner Kartik Bauri. Kartik's bloodied body was found on the steps outside the residence of former Trinamool Bodo Chairperson, Baby Bauri. Family members rushed him to Asansol District Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

The news of his death created uproar in the area. The deceased's mother, Sabita Bauri, accused Baby Bauri, Amardeep Bauri, Sandeep Bauri, and Jyotsna Bauri of murder. She claimed that Amardeep had invited Kartik to his house, and when he did not return late into the night, the family went searching. They heard Kartik's screams, only to find him moments later, laying bloodied on the steps.

As local residents gathered, Baby Bauri alleged that Kartik entered the house with the intent of theft and fell while escaping over the wall. However, Kartik’s mother refuted this claim, stating that her son recently won a crore rupee lottery, thus nullifying the theft allegation. She denounced it as a premeditated murder.

Police Arrested Baby Bauri

Acting on Sabita Bauri’s complaint, police registered a case and commenced an investigation. By Wednesday, police arrested Baby Bauri and Amardeep Bauri, while Sandeep and Jyotsna Bauri remain at large. Authorities are confident of apprehending the fugitives soon. The arrested suspects have been presented in court.
