Yograj Singh, former all-rounder of Team India and father to Yuvraj Singh, often makes headlines with his statements. Recently, Yograj stirred conversation once more with his comments about Arjun Tendulkar, asserting that Arjun bats much like his renowned father, Sachin Tendulkar.

Arjun Tendulkar has yet to make a significant breakthrough in domestic cricket's major leagues. Initially, Arjun faced limited opportunities in Mumbai's cricket scene, prompting his move to Goa for more domestic playing time. As a left-arm pace bowling all-rounder, Arjun continues to hone his skills.

During a YouTube channel interview, Yograj Singh remarked, 'Why focus solely on his bowling? He is, in fact, a batsman. Before the Ranji Trophy season, he joined my 10-12 day camp, and Sachin along with Yuvraj Singh asked me to look after him. I assured them I would. One day, he got injured, and we took him to a doctor. Thankfully, he recovered swiftly.'

Yograj is Highly Impressed by Arjun's Talent

Yograj Singh trained Arjun Tendulkar in the initial seasons of the Ranji Trophy and was deeply impressed by his batting prowess. He recounted, 'Once, I asked him to bat. Initially, he said he rarely got the chance, but when he began, he started hitting sixes, nailing four in succession. I questioned his coach about limiting his batting time. Arjun is an excellent batsman, paralleling his father in style. I ensured he batted for 2-3 hours daily, and on his Ranji debut, he even scored a century.'

During the 2022-23 season, on his Ranji Trophy debut, Arjun Tendulkar scored an impressive 120 runs batting at number seven against Rajasthan, securing three wickets as well, thereby showcasing his all-rounded abilities. However, Arjun is keen on being recognized separately from his father. While his primary role is that of a bowling all-rounder, he has occasionally stepped into the role of an opener this season. His overall career stats indicate that his batting journey, though promising, hasn't yet reached the iconic Sachin level.

Arjun Tendulkar has competed in 22 First-Class, 21 List-A, and 29 T20 matches to date. In First-Class games, he has claimed 48 wickets with an average of 37.91 and scored 620 runs averaging 21.37. In List-A cricket, Arjun has accrued 25 wickets averaging 38.72, coupled with 146 runs at 18.25. At 26, in the T20 format, he has taken 35 wickets with a 22.97 average and scored 189 runs averaging 13.50. Coming up in IPL 2026, spectators will witness Arjun playing for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
