Alankar Agnihotri, who resigned from the position of City Magistrate in Bareilly, arrived in Prayagraj on Tuesday. He discussed the suspension notice with legal experts at the Allahabad High Court. He shared that his legal team is reviewing the suspension notice, and a future course of action will be decided afterward. He indicated that challenging the suspension in the High Court might be feasible.
Declaration to March to Delhi on February 7
Agnihotri also targeted the central government, stating that the SC-ST law is completely 'draconian' for the general class. To abolish this law, he demanded the central government convene a special session by February 6. Should the government neglect this, he plans an assertive march to Delhi starting February 7.
Agnihotri explicitly ruled out any possibility of withdrawing his resignation. Critiquing the Modi government, he said it operates similarly to the erstwhile British East India Company. In contrast, he exhibited a softer stance towards Uttar Pradesh's Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Visit to Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati's Ashram
Former Bareilly City Magistrate Alankar Agnihotri, who opted for ideological activism over bureaucracy, is back in the limelight. On Sunday evening, he visited the Vidyamat Ashram of Jyotish Peeth's Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati in Varanasi, where he received formal blessings amidst chants, hymns, and Vedic traditions. Agnihotri views this meeting as the commencement of his upcoming movement.
From Resignation to Movement: The Entire Journey
Agnihotri gained attention when a purported incident during the Mauni Amavasya bath with Shankaracharya and his Vedic chanters, along with new UGC regulations, prompted his resignation. Subsequently suspended, Agnihotri clarified that leaving his secure bureaucratic position was not an emotional but an intellectual decision. For 35 years he claims to have witnessed the misuse and divisive impact of the SC-ST Act within society, asserting it now aids division rather than unity, and deliberatively has been enforced to fragment the country.
