A significant conversion syndicate has been busted in Agra. DGP Rajiv Krishna reported that Agra police have arrested 10 individuals involved in illegal conversions across six states. This racket targeted minor girls under 'love jihad', forcing their conversion.
The gang's modus operandi mirrors that of ISIS. The investigation has linked the network to SDPI and Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI.
Network Spread Across Six States
According to Police Commissioner Deepak Kumar, the syndicate was uncovered during a probe into the disappearance of two sisters in March. Cyber cell assistance unveiled connections across six states, leading to the deployment of 50 police teams to regions including Goa. Ten arrests followed, with roles ranging from providing legal aid to securing new phones and safe houses.
Hundreds Converted by the Gang
This gang boasts a history of converting hundreds. Investigations highlighted varied modules: one orchestrated funding, another radicalized recruits, and a third arranged concealment. Among those arrested, a victim's photo has surfaced, depicting her post-conversion and radicalization with an AK-47.
Funding Traced to USA, Canada, and Dubai
Evidence points to financial backing from the USA, Canada, and Dubai. Police suspect these connections extend to PFI, SDPI, and terror outfits in Pakistan. The mastermind has been apprehended, and efforts to locate other network members are underway, with further arrests anticipated soon.
