In Uttar Pradesh, cases of 'love jihad' are increasingly surfacing. Now, it has transcended beyond merely a social issue to become a well-organized conversion industry. Targeted like a syndicate, Hindu girls are often ensnared.
Initially, they are seduced into love, then converted under the guise of marriage, eventually being exploited in crimes like prostitution. A similar case emerged earlier in Balrampur and Agra, and now one such case is reported from Bareilly. A case has been filed against a Muslim youth under severe charges.
Circle Officer (CO) Arun Kumar Singh stated that the victim, hailing from Kolkata, had no family. She came to Rudrapur, Uttarakhand, to find work. About a year ago, she started chatting with a man via social media. He introduced himself as 'Rajveer' and posed as Hindu. Their interaction on Facebook gradually developed into trust. The accused promised marriage and established multiple physical relations with her. One day, he filled her parting with vermillion, declaring himself as her husband.
How Was 'Rajveer', or 'Bakhtawar', Exposed?
Subsequently, the real ordeal unfolded. The accused took the victim to Mandanpur Shumali village in the Bareilly district's Baheri station area. Here, she discovered that the man named 'Rajveer' was actually a Muslim named 'Bakhtawar'.
This began a terrifying chapter of forced conversion and exploitation. The victim revealed that the accused and his family coerced her into adopting Islam against her will. She was forced to consume beef against her will. Moreover, the accused compelled her to have relations with several Muslim men.
From Rape by Others to Being Pushed into Prostitution
The accused orchestrated multiple rapes of the victim. Following this trauma, she was forcibly pushed into prostitution. Miraculously, she managed to escape from the accused's clutches. With the assistance of social organizations and locals, she filed a complaint at Baheri police station on Monday.
Based on her statement, a case was filed against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Prohibition of Unlawful Religious Conversion Act of Uttar Pradesh. Currently, the accused is absconding from his residence, and continuous attempts to locate him are ongoing.
Bakhtawar's Possible Connection with 'Chhangur Baba Gang'
The CO elaborated that this case is a high-priority investigation. All constitutional aspects concerning the victim’s security and statement are meticulously being considered. An astonishing link surfaced when the accused, Bakhtawar, was found possibly connected to the 'Chhangur Baba Gang.'

This is the same gang revealed as an illegal conversion racket in Balrampur. Investigations indicate their network may link to Pakistan, its intelligence agency ISI, and Dubai-based underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.
Chhangur Baba Syndicate's Foreign Funding in the Millions
The Chhangur Baba Syndicate's bank accounts exhibited millions in foreign funding, funneled into accounts under fake entity names. In Agra, another syndicate targeted Hindu girls to convert them under 'love jihad' pretense.
The mastermind behind the Agra conversion syndicate, Abdul Rehman, was apprehended in Delhi. His son was also detained. Police currently interrogate both individuals. A Hindu girl was also retrieved from their home, converted for marriage.
