Iranian activist Masih Alinejad, in her address to the United Nations on Thursday, accused the Iranian government of repeatedly attempting to assassinate her. She also warned that unless the world takes serious action, the brutal massacre occurring within the country will worsen.

Such confrontations were present during the emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council. Alinejad spoke directly to the Iranian representative sitting across in the assembly.

Alinejad stated, 'You (Iran) have tried to kill me three times. I saw the assassin with my own eyes in front of my Brooklyn home garden.'

Iran Compared to ISIS

The Iranian officials sat silently, offering no response. Alinejad, residing in America and a prominent critic of the Iranian regime, said that Tehran's actions resembled that of extremist groups and should be treated as such.

She remarked, 'The Islamic Republic is acting just like ISIS and should be dealt with in the same manner. This is the only way to save innocent lives.'

She warned that repression within Iran is intensifying, and mere international condemnation will not suffice.

The US Supports Iranian Protesters

Amid rising unrest in Iran, the United States called for this emergency session. US Ambassador Mike Waltz stated that the protests within the country signify a historic moment.

Waltz expressed, 'The people of Iran are demanding their freedom like never before in the brutal history of the Islamic Republic. President Donald Trump and the United States stand with the brave people of Iran.' He dismissed Iranian claims that the protests were a foreign conspiracy.

UN Warns Against Attacks on Iran

Meanwhile, UN officials urged restraint and warned that escalating tensions could destabilize the region. Speaking on behalf of Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Assistant Secretary-General Martha Pobee cautioned that potential military strikes on Iran would 'add instability to an already explosive situation.'

Guterres called on all parties to avoid actions that could result in further loss of life and reiterated that issues concerning Iran, including its nuclear program, should be resolved through diplomacy and dialogue.
