UP Police ATS Team to Interrogate Arrested Terrorist Rizwan, Suspected ISIS Connection

The UP Police ATS team is preparing to question Rizwan Haji, a suspected terrorist arrested by the Delhi Police Special Cell team. Rizwan Haji will be taken into police custody for interrogation. In October last year, the UP ATS had arrested 15 suspects of the AMU module. During the questioning, Rizwan Haji's connection came to light.

It was under Rizwan Haji's direction that former students of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) formed the AMU module. Reportedly, people used a Whatsapp Group named SAMA to chat among themselves. Additionally, several students from the AMU module were directly in touch with ISIS handlers.

Sources reported that information about wanted terrorist Rizwan Ali was received on Thursday, indicating that Rizwan was expected to come to Biodiversity Park, Ganga Baksh Marg at night. Following this information, a trap was set, and he was arrested around 11 PM. The team confiscated a .30 bore star pistol, three cartridges, and two mobile phones from him, and the data from these phones is being examined. Rizwan Ali had a case filed against him under the UAPA by the NIA, with a bounty of 3 lakhs. The Delhi Police Special Cell had also registered a case against Rizwan under the UAPA and Explosive Act.

Reconnaissance of Several Areas

Rizwan is known as the most notorious terrorist of the Pune ISIS module. Several terrorists from the Pune module have been arrested by Pune Police and NIA, but Rizwan had been evading investigation agencies for a long time. Terrorists from the Pune module conducted reconnaissance of several high-profile areas in Delhi and Mumbai.

The investigative agency NIA had declared Rizwan a wanted terrorist. Preliminary investigations revealed that terrorists from the Pune module had conducted IED testing in various places in Delhi. Rizwan is known to be an IED expert. Special Cell and central investigating agencies are currently interrogating the terrorist.

Testing Locations

Rizwan and his associates conducted IED blast testing at Yamuna Bank in Delhi. They also tested IED blasts in Delhi's Okhla area and in Haldwani, Uttarakhand.
