Wanted Terrorist Tarsem Singh Sandhu Arrested:

Tarsem Singh, a wanted Khalistani terrorist, has been arrested by the CBI in connection with the RPG attack on the Intelligence Headquarters of Punjab Police in Mohali and other terror-related cases. The CBI conducted this operation in collaboration with the NIA. Interpol had issued a Red Corner Notice against him. The NIA team brought the terrorist back to India from Abu Dhabi on a security mission, and he was arrested by the CBI upon arrival in Delhi on Friday morning.

The CBI, at the NIA's request, asked the Interpol General Secretariat to issue a Red Notice against the wanted terrorist Tarsem Singh on November 13, 2023. A CBI spokesperson informed PTI that the Red Notice was issued for his involvement in terrorist crimes and financing terrorist activities. The Red Notice was disseminated to all Interpol member countries for locating and apprehending the accused.

CBI officials confirmed that Tarsem Singh is the brother of designated terrorist Lakhbir Landa. He is a key member of the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorist organization and a pivotal terror node for Harvinder Sandhu aka Rinda and Lakhbir Singh aka Landa in the UAE. Among other charges, he was sought for his involvement in the May 2022 RPG attack on a Punjab Police office in Mohali.

Initially arrested in Abu Dhabi under the Red Corner Notice by Interpol in November 2023, Tarsem Singh was extradited to India on Friday. He has actively participated in arranging and supplying terror funds to the associates of Harvinder Sandhu aka Rinda and Lakhbir Singh aka Landa within India. It is alleged that Tarsem Singh facilitated the channeling of terror funds through multiple routes.

The NIA charged him on August 20, 2022, concerning the terror activities of leaders/members of banned terrorist organizations such as Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF), BKI, and International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF), who have built an extensive network of terror operatives across India.

A CBI officer noted that these groups operate through members/operatives of terrorist organizations and organized criminal gangs to smuggle weapons, ammunition, explosives, and IEDs across the border. The NIA's ongoing investigation has revealed that they use drug trafficking, extortion, and hawala transactions to fund terrorist activities on Indian soil.
